Another Hollywood Movie Tied to F1! 'Ocean's Eleven' Prequel Set at Monaco Grand Prix

April 20, 2026

Recently, Warner Bros. revealed at a new film showcase in Las Vegas: The prequel to the classic Hollywood film Ocean's Eleven will be released in 2027, set against the backdrop of the 1962 F1 Monaco Grand Prix, starring Margot Robbie and Bradley Cooper.

The film Ocean's Eleven was released in 2001, directed by Steven Soderbergh, telling the story of master thief Danny Ocean (played by George Clooney) who assembles eleven men overnight to rob his rival's casino to win back his wife Tess (Julia Roberts). The cast was exceptionally star-studded, with Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Andy Garcia, and other notable actors playing key roles. The series later spawned sequels Ocean's Twelve, Ocean's Thirteen, and Ocean's Eight.

At the showcase, Margot Robbie revealed that she and Bradley Cooper will play Danny Ocean's parents, who orchestrate a high-stakes heist. She said: "Before Danny Ocean ever set foot in Las Vegas, there were two master planners who taught him everything—his parents. You'll see them in their prime, pulling off an epic heist at the 1962 Monaco Grand Prix in our new film."

The Monaco Grand Prix, first held in 1929, is known for its challenging circuit and glamorous setting, making it one of F1's most prestigious races. In reality, the 1962 race was won by legendary New Zealand driver Bruce McLaren—founder of the McLaren team!

Specific plot details remain under wraps, but the film is expected to blend the stylish, high-stakes vibe of the Ocean's Eleven series with the grandeur of F1, opening a new direction for the franchise.

Star Bradley Cooper will direct the prequel himself. Margot Robbie will produce through her production company LuckyChap. The new film is slated for a June 25, 2027 theatrical release.
