2026 Suzhou Open Gets a Full Upgrade: WTA125 Event Activates New "Tennis + Culture & Tourism" Scenarios

October 9, 2026

From October 5 to 11, the 2026 Suzhou Open was held at the New Jian Yuan International Tennis Center within the Suzhou Yangcheng Lake Peninsula Tourist Resort. As a WTA125-level international women's tennis event, this year's tournament featured women's singles and doubles, with six players ranked in the world's top 100 in singles, along with many top players from home and abroad.

Following the inaugural Suzhou Open in 2025, this year's "Su Open" has undergone a comprehensive upgrade.

According to Zhou Yunsong, Tournament Director of the Suzhou Open, "The player lineup for this year's event has maintained a very high standard, the hardware facilities have been further upgraded in accordance with WTA requirements, and the interactive segments are even richer than last year's."

Zhou Yunsong also specifically noted that the event's positioning balances warm-up opportunities for highly ranked players with the growth of the new generation. "Since the tournament period falls right after the China Open, the Suzhou Open enjoys a very favorable timing advantage. This year's wild cards and overall lineup include a large proportion of Chinese rising stars, while also featuring top-50 world-ranked players preparing for the next stop."

Orange Bay Sports observed that the 2026 Suzhou Open upgraded its sponsorship model, welcoming China CITIC Bank Suzhou Branch as a gold partner, along with five official partners.

In terms of the venue, the New Jian Yuan International Tennis Center, located by Yangcheng Lake, is currently the largest and most fully equipped international-standard tennis center in Suzhou. It covers an area of 8,788 square meters and features 11 tennis courts built to international tournament standards, including 9 hard courts identical to those used at the Australian Open and 2 clay courts identical to those used at the French Open. The center court has 1,000 spectator seats and can host various international events, offering tennis enthusiasts an "international edition" tennis experience.

The venue has completed a lighting system renovation benchmarked against international broadcast standards and has integrated Jiangnan garden aesthetics to optimize the tournament landscape and court design. The event also built a multilingual dedicated digital management and service system covering three major groups—spectators, participating players, and event organizers—integrating functions such as schedule inquiries, court reservations, player logistics, event announcements, and city cultural tourism guides.

In terms of accompanying activities, the event site simultaneously featured interactive content such as a tennis carnival, daily star selection, and on-site raffles, and launched the "Future Stars" youth tennis experience activity.

In addition, this year's event specially prepared a smart electronic pet toy as a thoughtful souvenir for each player. It can take photos, chat, and be carried around, adding a touch of lighthearted fun to the intense competition.

Coinciding with the National Day holiday, the park deeply linked with all-area cultural tourism resources and the Yangcheng Lake Peninsula sports offerings, launching a "hotel + tennis" specialty vacation package. This integrates Yangcheng Lake hairy crab tasting, garden study tours, Kunqu opera appreciation, and Suzhou embroidery intangible cultural heritage experiences, connecting diverse scenarios such as lakeside sports and outdoor markets, creating a one-stop Jiangnan cultural tourism experience.

After watching the matches, spectators can also use their WTA event ticket stubs to unlock exclusive ticket-stub benefits at dining, hotel, and amusement venues around the Yangcheng Lake Peninsula.

In recent years, Suzhou Industrial Park has actively built a dual-engine sports development model of "top-tier events + local IPs," regularly hosting international top-tier events such as the Sudirman Cup and the World Athletics Diamond League, while deeply cultivating local signature IPs such as the Jinji Lake Dragon Boat Race and sailing regattas. By hosting high-standard, high-quality cultural and sports events, it continues to unleash the "event economy" effect.
