BIG MAX, Europe's No.1 Golf Cart Brand, Hits Record Sales and Expands Internationally
Founded in Austria, golf cart brand BIG MAX recently announced record sales for 2025, with continued growth in DTC channels in the first and second quarters of 2026, paving the way for further international expansion, including establishing a sales team in the US.
Currently, BIG MAX is the largest independent golf equipment brand in Europe. For over 30 years, the company has been dedicated to the research, design, and sales of golf carts, bags, and accessories.
In 1988, founder Thomas Reiter started his first company, Golftech, while studying at the Vienna University of Economics and Business. The company imported golf products from the US and UK that were hard to find in Europe, achieving great success. In 1994, he identified a clear gap in the European golf cart market and decided to create his own brand, subsequently launching Europe's first three-wheeled cart. Since his son Max had just been born, the brand was named BIG MAX.

In 2022, BIG MAX accounted for 39% of total cart sales in Europe, surpassing the combined sales of its seven closest competitors.
Although BIG MAX is renowned for its innovative carts, data shows that golf bags are actually its fastest-growing product segment. Thanks to the success of the waterproof and water-repellent Aqua and Dri Lite series, in 2022, BIG MAX produced over 35% of all bags sold in Europe, increasing its market share by 5 percentage points and leading the second-place competitor by a substantial 25 percentage points.
In recent years, BIG MAX has entered a rapid growth phase. One of its latest flagship products is the Blade IP2 cart. Itsunique FlatFold™ folding mechanism allows the Blade IP2 to fold down to the height of a soda can, making it the most compact and practical cart on the market.

Currently, BIG MAX primarily sells offline through a network of distributors. According to its official website, the brand has 1,496 retail outlets in Europe, only 7 in Hong Kong, China, and only 1 in Denver, USA. Doug Wright, CEO of BIG MAX USA, is actively building his team to drive the brand's growth momentum in the US.
