England Captain Harry Kane's Invested Golf Brand REFLO Finished Funding through CrowdCube

July 21, 2026

In this World Cup, England captain Harry Kane is one of the most talked-about stars. Beyond football, golf is his favorite sport. He has also extended this passion to investment, becoming the most enthusiastic football investor in golf brands.

In 2024, German venture capital firm LEAD launched a fund called "Locker Room," and Harry Kane was among the first athletes to join. The fund's investments include: Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy' co-founded golf tech company TMRW Sports (TGL league parent company), and American golf apparel brand Eastside Golf.

The golf company with which Harry Kane is most involved and interacts most frequently is British sustainable golf brand REFLO, in which he personally invested. In 2024, he participated in the brand's million-pound seed funding round and became a brand ambassador.

In March this year, REFLO launched a crowdfunding campaign on UK platform CrowdCube targeting £2.5 million, but ultimately raised £115,900 from 176 people—only 4.6% of its target.

The page shows REFLO's valuation is £25 million, with 2025 sales of £5 million. The brand focuses on sustainability, primarily made from recycled polyester derived from single-use plastic bottles. For every product sold, REFLO plants a tree. The brand has planted over 200,000 trees and recycled more than 3 million plastic bottles.

Golf apparel is REFLO's main sales category, with unit prices between £50 and £130 (approximately RMB 455 to 1,200). Recently, the brand has also expanded into fitness and padel tennis.

REFLO was founded in November 2021 by childhood friends Peter Philippou and Rory MacFadyen. Peter Philippou (left below) graduated from the University of Reading, worked at Red Bull for 7 years, and then at Norwegian water brand VOSS for 7 years, always handling Middle East operations. Rory MacFadyen (right below) graduated from the University of Gloucestershire and worked in advertising agencies before joining golf innovation event Icons Series as CMO in 2019—it was during this role that he met Harry Kane.

Regarding this crowdfunding round, MacFadyen said that VC was also an option, but they wanted more people to participate in the brand's development.

According to the REFLO website, several fashion and sports brands have previously launched crowdfunding on CrowdCube—including REFLO's direct competitor, British golf apparel brand Manors, which is invested by tennis star Andy Murray.

Brands that have previously launched crowdfunding on CrowdCube, from top to bottom: British womenswear brand ME+EM, British sustainable outdoor brand Finisterre, British sports eyewear brand SunGod, British luxury outdoor brand Shackleton, British fashion phone case brand MOUS, British golf brand Manors.
