NBA Superstar LeBron James Launches Golf-Focused YouTube Channel, Gains 400K Followers on Day One

On August 17, NBA superstar LeBron James launched a brand-new social media account on YouTube. The account willfocus on his favorite sport off the basketball court: golf. It gained 400,000 followers on its first day,and now has approximately 550,000 followers.

Notably, the account directly uses James's name, LeBron James, closely tied to his personal brand. James currently has 150 million followers on Instagram and 5.4 million on X.com. This is his first YouTube channel.

According to YouTube's official blog, the channel will document LeBron's journey as a passionate golf fan and student. Viewers will follow LeBron and his close companions as they travel the world, take on iconic courses, explore local cuisines, and share the pure joy, competitive passion, and camaraderie that golf brings.

The channel's first video is 1 hour and 36 minutes long: to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Cleveland Cavaliers' first NBA championship in 2016, James gatheredformer teammates—Kevin Love, J.R. Smith, Richard Jefferson, Tristan Thompson, and Channing Frye—for an unforgettable golf trip across the Atlantic to Scotland.

In the channel's first video, James wears Nike Golf apparel throughout, enjoying the joy of golf and the beauty of Scotland with his former teammates.

James has said he only started playing golf at age 40 but quickly became hooked. Golf offers both the challenge competitors crave and inner peace. He is often photographed playing with his son Bronny and former teammates.

During international travels, he frequently appears at courses around the world. During his China tour in September 2025, James played golf in both Shanghai and Chengdu with great enthusiasm. Just hours after landing in Shanghai in the early morning, he went to a golf course in Pudong. Reports say he played from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., even whentorrential rain hit, he didn't stop. After Shanghai, he went to Chengdu, where he alsobraved heavy rainto visit the golf course.

James also watches golf tournaments live and has cheered for Tommy Fleetwood and Rory McIlroy. In March this year, he starred alongside South Korean golfer Tom Kim in a Nike and Beats co-branded golf commercial (below).

Currently, golf participation is rising globally. Well-known active and retired athletes from almost every field frequently appear on golf courses, such as NBA stars Michael Jordan and Stephen Curry, tennis stars Rafael Nadal, Andy Murray, and Carlos Alcaraz, football stars Gareth Bale and Harry Kane, and F1 driver Lando Norris. Celebrities' participation has boosted golf's popularity and increased its buzz, and golf-focused social media accounts are also on the rise.
