Six Senses Signs Beijing Haidian Liulangzhuang, the Second Hotel in China to Be Located in 'Three Hills and Five Gardens'
On April 9, the official website of Six Senses, the luxury lifestyle brand under IHG, announced that it has signed a project agreement with Beijing Zhongguancun Street Construction and Development Co., Ltd. for Six Senses Beijing.
Following its first property in Qingcheng Mountain, Sichuan, Six Senses' second hotel in China will be located in Liulangzhuang, Haidian, Beijing, within the "Three Hills and Five Gardens" area.

The "Three Hills and Five Gardens" area is located in the northwestern suburbs of Beijing and has been the site of imperial palaces since the Liao and Jin dynasties. Among them, the "Three Hills" refer to Fragrant Hills, Jade Spring Hill, and Longevity Hill; the "Five Gardens" include Changchun Garden, Yuanmingyuan (Old Summer Palace), Jingyi Garden, Jingming Garden, and the Summer Palace (Qingyi Garden).
Haidian Liulangzhuang is situated at the southeastern corner of the "Three Hills and Five Gardens" and is also a major production area for the famous "Western Beijing Rice."

Today, Liulangzhuang is adjacent to the Fourth Ring Road in Beijing, close to the core area of Zhongguancun, surrounded by top-tier universities such as Peking University, Tsinghua University, and Renmin University. It is reported that this hotel management agreement is an important part of the overall renovation plan for the Liulangzhuang area, aiming to transform it into a new center for cultural activities and international exchanges.
In addition to Six Senses, IHG's Kimpton hotel will also be located here.

Six Senses Beijing will feature 75 guest rooms and suites, ranging from one-bedroom to four-bedroom units, blending traditional architectural styles with modern courtyard living concepts. The interior design continues the theme of natural tranquility, creating a peaceful and serene retreat close to nature. Some rooms open onto private gardens and marinas, while others connect to quiet courtyards shaded by magnolia trees. Hutong-style pathways wind between buildings, and two plots are linked by a bridge.
Water features are a highlight of the hotel. A yacht marina will connect the arrival lobby and lounge with resort facilities, most of which are built along the water. Sun-drenched pavilion-style buildings create a unique dining atmosphere where historical elements and modern lines complement each other. A remarkable two-story mansion spans two floors, offering spacious and flexible space for private events, accessible by boat or via a private driveway.

Six Senses Beijing will continue the brand's wellness philosophy, offering a range of services from basic spa treatments to in-depth wellness programs. The overall approach emphasizes harmony with the guest's own rhythm, creating an environment conducive to relaxation and restoring balance. In addition, Six Senses will retain its iconic public facilities, including the Earth Lab and the Alchemy Bar.
Neil Palmer, Chief Operating Officer of Six Senses, said: "Six Senses has always been committed to finding destinations with compelling stories. The location of Six Senses Beijing is extraordinary. The Three Hills and Five Gardens area has profound cultural and historical heritage, and we are honored to be part of the revitalization of Liulangzhuang. We look forward to working with our partners to create an urban sanctuary where guests can experience the spirit of Beijing in Six Senses' unique way, achieving physical and mental healing and rejuvenation."
Cheng Yue, Chairman of Beijing Haidian Urban Renewal Development Co., Ltd., added: "Six Senses Beijing embodies the shared commitment of all partners to create a project of exceptional quality, infused with the concepts of health and sustainable development. The seamless integration from design to construction, and from vision to operation, will fully leverage the strengths of the Six Senses brand, creating a destination of lasting value for Beijing."
