Unitree Unveils New Robotic Dog that Plays Tennis

On February 24, Unitree Robotics released a promotional video for its new generation quadruped robot, Unitree As2 — in the final two seconds of the video, the robotic dog actually plays tennis.

In the footage, the quadruped robot has a robotic arm attached to its back, capable of swinging a racket to hit the ball.

The video does not show more footage of the As2 in a tennis setting. However, it demonstrates the robot dog moving freely across grass, dirt, mountains, snow, and streams, showcasing agile off-road capabilities. Unitree officials stated that the As2's power performance is approximately twice that of its current mainstream model, the Go2.

Specifications show that the Unitree As2 features a peak torque of 90 N·m, a no-load battery life of over 4 hours, IP54 rainproof design, a top speed of 5 m/s, and a range of over 13 km with a 15 kg load.

On the software side, the Unitree As2 is equipped with a bionic embodied large model and an upgraded intelligent companion system, allowing it to follow human movements and respond to gestures by moving or jumping, creating an interaction similar to that between a person and a pet dog.
