Sunreef Yachts Welcomes New Owner & Brand Ambassador: Tennis Star Carlos Alcaraz

At the recent international boat show in Palm Beach, Florida, superyacht brand Sunreef Yachts announced its new owner & brand ambassador: current world No. 1 Spanish tennis player Carlos Alcaraz.

Alcaraz has ordered a custom Sunreef Ultima 88 catamaran. The vessel is still in the design phase, with specific layout and parameters yet to be disclosed.

Fellow Spanish tennis legend Rafael Nadal is also a Sunreef owner. He owns a custom 80 Sunreef Power catamaran named "Great White," and recently invested in a Spanish marina company. 

Before signing, Alcaraz had in-depth discussions with Nadal about boat-buying insights and toured the Sunreef Yachts shipyard. The model he chose is about 8 feet longer than Nadal's. The standard layout is spacious, featuring five suites accommodating 10 guests, with a fold-down bulwark aft lounge and expansive entertainment space on the flybridge.

In an interview with Robb Report, Alcaraz shared his love for yachts: "I really love the comfort, the spaciousness, the stability of the boat—I think it's unmatched by other types."

After the 2024 Paris Olympics, he spent a week on a catamaran and has been passionate about this type of vessel ever since. He told BOAT magazine: "On a yacht, you don't have to think as a tennis player. At this stage of my life, I really wanted to own a yacht and experience that feeling more often. The privacy is amazing—sometimes in life there are countless eyes on you, but on a boat, you don't have to worry about anything else."

Standard Sunreef Ultima 88

Sunreef Yachts founder Francis Lapp is from France and previously worked in the power and construction sectors. After moving to Poland, he established a shipyard in Gdańsk, a city with a rich shipbuilding history, focusing on the design and construction of large custom luxury catamarans. In 2025, Sunreef Yachts rose to sixth place in the BOAT International 2026 Global Order Book.

Sunreef boasts a prestigious lineup of owners. In the sports world, F1 drivers Fernando Alonso and Nico Rosberg have also commissioned custom yachts.
